Member Protection Information Officer 2025 Training Workshop

Active Tasmania in partnership with Play by the Rules, is pleased to offer a series of Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO) Training Workshops across the state in June and July 2025.

The importance of an MPIO in sport

MPIOs play a crucial role in promoting safe, fair, and inclusive sporting environments.

Having dedicated people who are well versed with your sport's member protection policy is a pre-emptive strategy in managing concerns, complaints and member protection matters.

MPIOs are trained to:

  • advise members on their rights and responsibilities
  • provide guidance on complaint procedures
  • support the implementation of your sport’s Member Protection Policy.

Every sport should have at least one trained MPIO in each region. Larger organisations may require multiple officers to meet demand.

Pathway to becoming a recognised MPIO

To become a nationally recognised MPIO through Play by the Rules, follow these three steps:

  1. Complete the online MPIO training course via the Sport Integrity Australia eLearning platform
  2. Attend the face-to-face MPIO workshop (details below)
  3. Register your nationally recognised accreditation with the MPIO Register.
