Frequently asked questions

Why has the portal been developed?

The portal is designed to support a strategic approach when planning for future community sport infrastructure needs to ensure future investments are informed by quality evidence and best practice.

The information captured through the portal is a valuable reference point for the development and updating of local and regional sport infrastructure plans throughout Tasmania.

The portal cannot be used as a system for the hiring of a community sport facility or where to sign up locally to participate in sporting activities.

How do I use the portal?

A user guide explains the key features of the portal including how to use the search function.

What is the difference between a site and a facility in the portal?

A site refers to a specific location or venue where one or more sporting facilities may be situated. For example, a sports complex, multiple sports fields, or a gymnasium with various sport amenities can be considered a site.

A facility refers to an individual sporting amenity within a site. For example, a single sports field, a swimming pool, or a tennis court within a Site are all considered facilities. Where a location has an individual sporting amenity, it will be referred to as a site.
